Artistotle said: "Humans beings are social by nature" how can this being get? just an excuse for being talkative or a deep phrase?

One of the principal ideas that Artistotle exposed is, how certain comunication is necessary to develop some simple philosophies. There are some researchers that believes that some of the first humans searchers for answers started for a simple question like, why that men is doing that? those types of easy but deep questions are the pioneers, humans develop their social knowledge from the other people.

Having clear why the communication is important like teachers to think about in something simply (like the last example) If we have around 35 humans in the same room and we are going to teach them something, would not be better to make them talk about what we are teaching?
Sometimes teachers waste the human force basing their classes on a classic "talk you listen" method.


First the article: "10 Benefits of Getting Students to Participate in Classroom discussions" presents, like the name says, the benefits that make our students work together can give to us. For example:
-How meaninful can be for the students
-The methodologies in classes become varied
-Teachers can make certain questions
-Monitoring is better.
It is noticeable that the benefits can be a lot, but what is actually the better one? From my point of view, how useful the activities can be to create a better class environment.

The article presents different ways to develop classes with 2 methodology.

Think-pair-share
This method expose how to built 2 important classroom elements: Not shame to learn and built a learning community.

What is Think-pair-share about?
According with the article: "In a think ­pair ­share, students are given think time to reflect on a question silently, so that they have more time to process the question, the language, or think of the language needed to convey the answer".

What is the process to achive the knowledge?
key answers, pair work, community builder.

For example:
1) Give a tricky questions
2) Make students to work on pairs in order to share ideas
3) Make all students shares their conclusions.

Circle Chat
This is one of the classic active methodologies, the main porpuse of this is to make a community builder time.

Students are asked to develop certain point about the class, commonly they are questions related with tricky topics, so students have to create human circles, they need to stand up, so when they already are in the circles, they share their ideas and they get to some conclusions. A great idea to wake students attention.

In conclusion: Humans social necessities are born since the time we born, it is an important part of our development, sadly schools are not aware to develop those skills propearly, fortunately, nowadays methodologies and educational trends are growing and some answers to what to do exists, the past articles are some of the ways to work on this important skills.

Hello Diego I really enjoy your article is really nice, I agree with you when you appointments to aristóteles with the quote: "Humans beings are social by nature" because is true but sadly nowadays people prefer to be shy and keep their opinios. I like the activities that are mantion in te article specially the Think-Pair-share, because students can interact and communicate with their classmates and share the knowledges that they have or share opinions I like those methods and I think that more teachers should use those methods for call students attetion.

I completely agree with you and I really like your points of view, including the quote that you have share, because that is true if we are going to talk something, it has to be of interest,but if it is not, it is better to reserve our comments. And if we relate it with the participation in classes we know that the aim is that when our students participate, they give us their opinions about something we have asked them. Besides, as you mentioned, students get many benefits when they participate, like they get engages when we ask them questions that catch their attention because as it is interesting for them we motivate them to share their ideas. in addition, I considered that think-pair-share is a great method to avoid shame and shyness, because students can feel more comfortable discussing with a partner before sharing their ideas with the teacher.
